— Hey guys, quick plug before we start:

First, something serious: we finished our Otaru, Myoko, Asahikawa, and Miyazaki Investment Guides.

We spent a lot of time building each one, and they’re packed with the kind of data we wish existed when we first started buying in Japan: AirDNA STR numbers, investment zones, tourism trends, akiya and low-cost home opportunities, renovation notes, and the full foreign buyer process.

Second, something silly: The YukiHomes Beanie. If you want this sick beanie, hit the preorder link, we’ve already shipped out 15 and were only making 50, so they will be limited. —

Something I realized a long time ago and something I tell clients all the time:

Just accept things the way they are.

Call it what you want, Buddha mindset, whatever, but if you try to force Japan to operate like the West, you’re going to have a bad time.

You’ll save yourself a lot of stress if you stop trying to inject your Western mindset into the process and just accept Japan for what it is.

We all need to cultivate a bit of impermanence and acceptance here.

Things are different. And I know when people hear that, their first instinct is to push back:

“Yeah it’s different… but it can’t be THAT different.”

“These norms are probably exaggerated.”

“I can work around them.”

You can’t.

They’re real. They’re ingrained. And you are not changing them.

The faster you accept that and just roll with the punches, the happier you’ll be.

Let’s go over some of the overarching themes you’re 100% going to run into, whether you work with us, someone else, or you’re a savage trying to do this on your own.
